August 2025 Newsletter:
From the Peanut Gallery…
The dog days of summer have pulled us into the sauna that is August in Florida. Hot, sweaty. The good news? Inside Post 45, the lights are low, the drinks cold, and the friendship flows freely. Hungry? Seems like there is always some kind of buffet available for every occasion known to man. Karaoke, Bingo, birthdays…Dig in!
Philly Friday is on 8/22. Where else can you get a huge cheesesteak sandwich with coleslaw and beans for only $12.00? Head over to the bar and ask Kelly, Deb, Christie, Becky or Shyla for a cold drink. They have you covered.
Coca Cola put in new lines, new guns, a new ice machine, and a new refrigerator this month. The price was right…all free! They just hope we choose Coke products. It’s not just soda anymore…they also own a beer most of us have heard of…Budweiser! (I’ll have a Corona. They own that too.)
Charlie met with ADT and put in all new cameras. Security is better than ever. The concern was less about the inside than the outside. We expect to have a split-screen on the TV at the far end of the bar. Ladies on the late shift will be able to see front and back lots, see the outside after dark. That’s reassuring for all of us.
Jim Jr. put misters on the patio fans. Hot days are cooler out there than they used to be. Chuckie the karaoke king approves.
Rory and the Sons are running an e-bike raffle. It’s a Pedego cruiser with a brand new battery, charger, helmet and accessories. That thing is beautiful! Tickets are only $10. each, and you don’t need to be present to win.
Come on in and beat the heat while watching the race between Amos and Cindy. If they both pull in at the same time, one runs through the back door as the other runs through the side, Both lusting for the same machine. Our version of musical chairs.
Ellie had cataract surgery and now has Supergirl eyesight. Now she can see Ed right through the walls and know when to run in and grab any money he may win at poker.
Dale went fishing for Haddock in the Pacific Northwest.
Liz finally made an honest man out of Harry! It only took about 11 years. Congratulations to the lovebirds!
Lots more going on, all of us living full lives, happily connected in many ways, not the least of which is AMVETS POST 45!
See you here next month!
